COOKIES & STORAGE

An accurate description of what this website currently stores in your browser — and what would change before anything non-essential is switched on.

We aim to be clear and accurate about how this website works. This page describes our current practices for version 1 of the site; it is not legal advice and does not claim to be a complete or legally watertight document. It will be reviewed and completed with a professional before the site goes into production.

1. The short version

Right now this website sets no tracking cookies, no advertising or marketing cookies, and no analytics cookies. Nothing you do here is measured by an external analytics provider, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing non-essential to consent to.

2. What is actually stored today

Nothing is stored in your browser by this website.

Your browser also requests the site's typefaces from a third-party web font service and its video files from our hosting/CDN provider. Those requests are needed to display the site; they do not place tracking cookies from us, but the provider does see your IP address. This is described in the privacy notice.

3. Google Analytics 4: prepared, but dormant

The site is technically prepared for Google Analytics 4, but no Measurement ID is configured, so the integration is completely off: it injects no Google script, makes no request to Google, and sets no cookie or identifier. It is also built so it can never receive the values you type into a form — only technical event names such as "form submitted".

Once a Measurement ID is configured, the integration still stays off until you explicitly accept it in the consent banner that will then appear. Declining — or simply not choosing — means analytics never runs. The storage that activation would introduce is listed in section 4.

4. Categories that may be introduced later

  • Strictly necessary / functional: needed to make the site work or to remember a choice you made — for example the analytics-consent preference described below. Under Dutch rules these generally do not require consent, and we describe them here anyway.
  • Analytics: aggregate usage measurement via Google Analytics 4 (cookies _ga and _ga_*, up to 14 months). Privacy-sensitive, so it is treated as requiring consent and only runs after opt-in.
  • Marketing / advertising: not planned today. If it is ever introduced, it will only run after opt-in. Google's advertising storage stays disabled in our configuration regardless.

5. How consent works

Non-essential cookies and tracking stay blocked until you give valid, freely given consent. The consent mechanism for analytics is already built and follows these rules: nothing non-essential loads before you choose, there are no pre-ticked boxes, refusing is as easy as accepting (two equal buttons, no dark patterns), and you can withdraw at any time on this page. Your choice is remembered in a functional localStorage preference (99icons.analytics-consent) that stores only the word "granted" or "denied".

While analytics remains unconfigured no banner is shown, because a banner for tooling that does not run would be misleading.

6. Controlling storage yourself

You can clear or block cookies and site storage in your browser settings at any time. Blocking storage will not break this site: the forms post directly to our mailbox and nothing essential depends on browser storage.
